Shooting at Howe Park Leaves Four People Injured in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Sacramento authorities are examining a violent incident that occurred on the evening of April 18 at the Howe Community Park area at the moment Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were shutting down a large unauthorized gathering of multiple hundreds of people.

Prior to the Shooting

Sacramento County law enforcement initially responded to the park on Howe Avenue just after 6:30 Saturday evening after learning of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Soon after, a second caller reported regarding an alleged brawl occurring near the park.

Air support searched from above but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Even so, deputies found that several hundred individuals had packed into the park in an unauthorized manner.

The Shooting Itself

Officers set about removing people from the park by surrounding the park and making announcements ordering attendees to clear out. Approximately 15 minutes were spent for people to comply.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the night. The barrage of gunfire sent hundreds fleeing. Officers quickly moved to searching for victims.

Four Victims Hospitalized

Altogether, four shooting victims were located with gunshot injuries. The four individuals — comprising three men and one woman all believed to be in their 20s — were taken to local Sacramento hospitals. Doctors and nurses reported that two were treated for serious injuries, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and Sacramento park shooting 2026 one person's injuries were considered minor. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department were called to the scene and aided in treating those with gunshot wounds at the park.

Evidence at the Scene

The center of the incident seemed to have happened on Cottage Way close to the Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Investigators discovered extra shell casings on Cottage Way. Projectile impacts were observed in the wrought iron fence adjacent to the nearby Home Depot. The physical evidence showed that at least one shooter had been discharging rounds toward the south from the Cottage Way area targeting the Home Depot store. The nearby Home Depot was locked down for a period of time. CSI investigators and detectives worked tirelessly well into the night.

Detainees in Solano County

Reports confirmed via scanner audio revealed that a vehicle identified as a Kia was pulled over in the Solano County area. Four detainees were held for questioning. Sheriff's units were dispatched to Solano County to bring the suspects back for investigation. Video evidence established that two shooters had been involved.
